Republican Socialist Action: "We Are Ready To Intensify Our Campaign”

Socialist republicans from the Republican Socialist Action (RSA) group have issued a video statement warning all landlords in Ireland to bring rents down to affordable levels which reflect the realities of working-class incomes.

In June 2026, the RSA targeted three properties in working class areas in Dublin. A property in Tallaght for €2,500 monthly, in Crumlin priced at €2,350 and another in Crumlin renting for €2,600 were hit with targeted direct action. A week later, another property, this time in Dublin 12, was targeted, as it was charging € 2,700 a month. The statement issued today asserts that the group will intensify its campaign against landlords charging rents unaffordable to working-class communities.

“Ireland's landlords have bled working people dry for long enough. Rents have soared to obscene levels while wages have stagnated, leaving Irish workers locked out of the basic right to a home. Every month, ordinary families are forced to choose between paying rent, putting food on the table, and keeping their homes warm, while landlords grow rich from their hardship. This exploitation must end. Republican Socialist Action demands that all landlords immediately reduce rents to genuinely affordable levels, “ a member of RSA stated on video. 

“Rents that reflect the realities of working-class incomes, not the greed of investors. For years, you have profited from a rigged housing market, propped up by government policy on the suffering of the Irish people. You have treated homes as commodities and tenants as sources of profit. Put homes before profit. Put working people before landlords, “ they continued.

“The housing crisis demands action. No more excuses, delays, or empty premises. Our direct action campaign will continue, and we are ready to intensify our campaign across the 32 counties. We have already proven the effectiveness of our campaign. We will continue to build pressure against all institutes of housing profiteering, until rents are brought down to affordable levels. Make homes affordable for working people. Drop the rents! ,” the statement concluded. 

This is part of a wider campaign through which socialist republicans are seeking to combat landlordism and force landlords to lower rents, indicating a growing fightback in Irish society against the housing crisis. With landlordism rife in the country, it is up to the working class to fight back. The workers’ movement will build a new society, one in which basic human needs such as housing are not commodities, but fundamental rights accessible to all.
